FOTD2026 Content Proposal Call

FOTD 2026 Session Submission – Be part of five years of discovery, legacy, and history!

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in co-creating the 2026 Festival of the Diaspora in Puerto Rico.

We invite you to submit session proposals that reflect the spirit of FOTD: celebrating the power, knowledge, and creativity of the diaspora across the Americas.

We are looking for dynamic, engaging, and thoughtful proposals that align with this year’s themes. Each of the six themes will feature three concurrent 50 min sessions:

  • What (Panel): Introduces and explains a critical dimension of the theme. This should bring attention to a topic for attendees who may not be as familiar with it.
  • Why (Roundtable): Creates shared understanding of why the theme matters to the Diaspora. This is a facilitated discussion that engages session attendees about their knowledge on the topic. Audio/visual is not allowed for this format.
  • How (Workshop): Engages attendees in skills, tools, and solutions-building. This is an interactive format for attendees ready to roll up their sleeves on the topic.

As we curate this year’s content, we are committed to:

  • Centering Diaspora Perspectives: Elevating lived experiences, innovations, and solutions from across our diverse communities.
  • Amplifying Diverse Voices: Ensuring representation across gender, geography, sector, and generations.
  • Prioritizing Relevance & Rigor: Selecting sessions that are timely, impactful, and grounded in real-world practice.
  • Ensuring Alignment: Proposals must clearly connect to the selected track, format, and convey the what, why, and how of the session.

Let’s keep building something powerful, together!

The 5th Annual Festival of the Diaspora is heading back to where the movement started in 2022, San Juan, Puerto Rico! Having held festivals in three countries over the last four years, we return to Historic San Juan with a more comprehensive event that now includes a pitch competition, fashion show, exhibition hall, incredible content from the stage and the unveiling of the first FOTD100 list which will honor 100 leaders across the Americas in our closing gala.

Whether you’ve attended before or are a first-time festival-goer, we invite you to register today and experience the joy and diversity of our diasporic community.

About The Festival Of The Diaspora Organization

Each year, we bring our unwavering belief and unwavering commitment to a new city, ignited a ripple effect of positive impact.

Past Festival Events

Our beginnings start with the first festival taking place in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the idyllic Hilton Grand Resort. We kicked off our convening with more than 150 leaders from 46 countries.

The second FOTD in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, leveraged lessons learned from the first year to curate an unparalleled four day event during March of 2023 where over 200 leaders gathered at the Cartagena Centro Convenciones and took over the ancient city to celebrate, connect and collaborate.
